Born in Llanystundwy, near Criccieth in 1931. He has become one of Wales’ most successful artists. Gwilym’s dramatic and colourful landscapes of North Wales and the Pembrokeshire coast, often painted with a palette knife, have led to his work being described as “Kyffin with colour”.
