Born in Bangor and trained as an architect at Bath University. Took early retirement in 2000 and returned to Gwynedd where he set up a studio in his home. Pastels are his preferred medium because their immediacy and brilliance are so well suited to portraying the fleeting effect of light and ever changing mood and atmosphere, of the rugged Snowdonia mountain landscapes captured in so many of his paintings.
